PARSONSFIELD, Maine (AP) - A New Hampshire man is scheduled to be extradited to Maine to answer to charges stemming from an alleged baseball bat attack on a motorcyclist in York County.

Forty-year-old Scott Leonard was arrested by police in Effingham, New Hampshire, on Wednesday in connection with Tuesday’s incident in Parsonsfield.

Police say the victim told officers he pulled his motorcycle over on Chase Road at about noon because he recognized Leonard in a parked vehicle. Leonard then allegedly confronted the victim and began assaulting him with a bat, knocking the man off his motorcycle.

Police say the victim reported hearing a single gunshot as he fled. A shell casing was found by officers at the scene.

Leonard is currently awaiting extradition at the Carroll County Jail in New Hampshire.
