ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York state is extending the hours of operation at state pools, parks and beaches during the ongoing hot weather.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the longer hours Thursday.

Ocean beaches at Jones Beach, Robert Moses, Sunken Meadow and Hither Hills state parks will all remain open until 8 p.m. through Sunday.

Several upstate state parks with beaches, lakes or pools will also have later hours.

In addition, sprinklers will be turned on at the Gantry Plaza and East River state parks in New York City.

High temperatures are expected to top 90 degrees in New York City through Sunday.

State pool and beach hours were extended for three days in late July.
