BOSTON (AP) - A pickup truck has collided with a commuter train going to Boston.

The 76-year-old truck driver was taken to a Boston hospital with serious injuries. The accident occurred in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority says no one on the inbound commuter rail train was injured.

The MBTA says the truck driver drove around lowered gates at a railroad crossing on the Haverhill line Thursday morning and was struck.

The MBTA says the train was traveling at 29 miles per hour, a mile below the speed limit, and the operator tried to stop.

Shuttle buses took train passengers to their destinations.

Regular train service resumed Thursday afternoon after the truck was removed from the tracks.
