ISLAND PARK, N.Y. (AP) - A man says his wife was nearly crushed by a boat on their way back from a day on the water with their family on Long Island’s south shore.

Matthew Scully tells WCBS-TV (https://cbsloc.al/2aLYxHa ) he was navigating his boat back home Sunday evening on Reynolds Channel near Island Park in Nassau County when a 30-foot cobalt blue cigarette boat hit them, flew over the motor, smashed the windshield glass and knocked his wife unconscious.

He says the boat then sped off toward Oceanside.

Nassau County police are looking for the boat and its driver. Police say officers are scouring marinas and waterways for the boat.

Scully says his wife has three broken ribs and a fractured spine.
