ABERDEEN, Md. (AP) - An officer was struck by a car while investigating an accident in Aberdeen.

The Aberdeen Police Department said in a statement Thursday morning that the officer has since been released from the hospital and is recovering.

The incident occurred Wednesday night after the officer had blocked traffic with his patrol vehicle to conduct and accident investigation. Police say a vehicle traveling from a southbound direction turned left and struck the officer. The driver stopped the car at the point of impact.

The officer was transported to the hospital after sustaining injuries to the head and lower body.

Additional details haven’t been provided.
