NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Police say a man has been killed after the street sweeper he was driving overturned as he was getting off a Connecticut highway.

Connecticut State Police say 36-year-old Christopher M. Ruiz, of Bridgeport, was ejected from the vehicle, then trapped under it on Thursday afternoon in New Haven.

He was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Police say Ruiz was getting off Interstate 91 south when he lost control and rolled the vehicle on an exit off ramp.

The off ramp was closed, but has reopened.

Police say the 1993 street sweeper is owned by CSS Industries, LLC, a sweeping and pavement maintenance company in Connecticut.

The accident is under investigation.
