LAUREL, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say one man was killed and four people were hurt when a van crossed the median on Interstate 95 and hit a car and a tractor trailer.

The agency said in a news release that the crash happened Friday afternoon in Laurel. Police say a van was traveling south on I-95 when it crossed the median into the northbound lanes.

Troopers say the van hit a car head-on and then collided with a tractor trailer.

Authorities say the driver of the van was pronounced dead as he was being taken to a hospital. A passenger in the van was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

The driver and a passenger in the car, and the driver of the tractor trailer, were taken to Howard County General Hospital.
