DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - A Davenport teenager has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges in the shooting death of a 15-year-old girl.

Seventeen-year-old Trevor Owens filed his plea Tuesday in Scott County District Court. Owens and a 14-year-old boy are charged with the June 26 slaying of Ayana Culbreath. The younger boy will be tried as a youthful offender in adult court. Owens is being prosecuted as an adult.

Owens is due back in court Aug. 26 for a pretrial conference. Online court records don’t list a trial starting date.
