CORNER, S.C. (AP) - The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is holding active shooting trainings for residents and business leaders over the next month.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports (https://bit.ly/2bmN4Qg) deputies say the four seminars will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at area high schools to teach people how to respond to an active shooter situation.

Sheriff Duane Lewis says they hope the program will give individuals the tools to know what to do in such a situation.

The dates and locations are as follows: Tuesday at Goose Creek High School in Goose Creek; Aug. 23 at Cane Bay High School in Summerville; Aug. 30 at Stratford High School in Goose Creek; and Sept. 6 at Berkeley High School in Moncks Corner.

Those interested in attending do not have to register.
