DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have released the names of two people who were in a car that crashed into a house on the east side of Des Moines.

The crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. Thursday when the driver lost control and the car rammed into the house on East Sheridan Avenue. Police suspect the driver was speeding.

Police identified the driver Friday as 18-year-old Kyaus Davenport, who lived in Tama. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His injured passenger was identified as 17-year-old Amaris Walker, also of Tama. She was taken in a hospital.

A woman in the house escaped injury because she was in another room.
