SOLON, Iowa (AP) - A flooding eastern Iowa creek has caused problems at Solon’s wastewater treatment plant.

Mill Creek in Solon spilled out of its banks Friday morning.

Solon Public Works Director Scott Kleppe tells Cedar Rapids television station KCRG (https://bit.ly/2aSmUVy ) that the flooding caused the treatment plant to lose power for an hour and a generator to fail.

Kleppe asks that Solon residents limit water usage - such as taking shorter showers and put off doing dishes and laundry - to put less strain on the plant.

Kleppe says the flooding left him and others stranded at the plant overnight Thursday, because roads around it were flooded.
