TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - The heat and humidity keep building across New Jersey for the third consecutive day.

An excessive heat warning is in effect until Sunday night for Mercer, Gloucester, Camden, northwest Burlington, Hudson, eastern Bergen, eastern Essex and eastern Union counties. The heat index in those areas could reach 110 degrees.

A heat advisory is in effect for the rest of the state.

Hazy, hot and humid conditions are expected to continue throughout the weekend. Scattered showers and storms may provide some temporary relief.

Forecasters say the heat wave should break on Monday after a cold front moves through the region.
