LAS VEGAS (AP) - Prison officials say a 44-year-old inmate from northern Nevada who was serving a sentence for credit card fraud has died at a Las Vegas hospital.

The Nevada Department of Corrections reported Thursday that Nicholas Dee Petroff died Wednesday at Spring Valley Hospital.

A cause of death wasn’t immediately disclosed. An autopsy was scheduled.

Prison officials say Petroff had been housed at the Casa Grande Transitional Housing facility in Las Vegas.

He had been in prison since March 2014 after being sentenced in Nevada’s Tenth District Court in Churchill County to 19 to 48 months.
