NORCROSS, Ga. (AP) - Gwinnett County police say a suspect has been arrested in the deaths of a mother and son found inside their Norcross apartment.

Police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington tells news outlets that 28-year-old Rickey Taylor was taken into custody Thursday and charged with malice murder, armed robbery and false imprisonment in the deaths of Nicola Sramek and James Sramek.

Officers went to the Chelsea Park Lane apartment on Sunday, after a family was unable to contact the Srameks.

There, they discovered the 61-year-old woman and her 29-year-old son with blunt force trauma and stab wounds. Authorities say the woman and the man were the victims of torture.

Washington says detectives believe robbery was the motive for the slayings.

It isn’t immediately clear if Taylor has an attorney.
