MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Prosecutors say a convicted drug dealer has pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the shooting of a Memphis police officer during a raid last year.

The Shelby County district attorney’s office says 41-year-old Dennis Murphy pleaded guilty Thursday to attempted second-degree murder, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun and violation of probation. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Authorities say Officer Brian Scott was shot in the chest on May 27, 2015. Authorities say Scott and other members of the Memphis Police Department Organized Crime Unit were serving a search warrant an apartment when Scott was shot.

Scott was wearing a bullet-resistant vest and survived the shooting.
