GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) - Rescuers saved a man who spent a night trapped at a remote hillside location above Galice (guhl-EESE).

The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports (https://is.gd/Aj1tAz ) the man’s sport utility vehicle veered off the road late Wednesday and struck a tree near the Sam Brown Campground. A passer-by found the crash victim at about 11 a.m. Thursday and went for help.

A rescue crew used a Jaws-of-Life hydraulic prying tool to open a door and reach the man. A helicopter transported him to a Medford hospital.

A fire department official says the man’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
