SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Twenty-three more victims have fallen to a mysterious tree killer in San Jose.

KNTV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2aOIU1G ) that 46 saplings have been cut down with what appears to be a chain saw in the Willow Glen neighborhood, leading city officials to offer a reward for information about the culprit. The first group of trees was cut on July 16 and another 23 went down on Wednesday.

Councilman Pierluigi Oliverio is offering $5,000 for information leading to the unwanted landscaper’s arrest. There are no surveillance cameras along the streets where trees have been cut down.

The felled trees were planted as part of a $50,000 project with the environmental group Our City Forest sponsored by Oliverio’s office. The 10-foot trees were planted last year.
