DETROIT (AP) - A southeastern Michigan group that aims to build understanding among children from varying backgrounds through creative writing seeks its first class of ambassadors.

One Earth Writing says it’s looking for teenagers interested in exploring writing through identity and participating in monthly writing workshops. The teens also would help run workshops in schools, houses of worship and community centers.

The application process runs from Monday through Oct. 10, and the program runs from November to May. Applicants are asked to explain their interest and submit a writing sample online.

One Earth Writing was founded by Lynne Golodner, a Detroit-area writer, mother and owner of a public relations firm. She says in a statement her goal is “to transform the generation coming up with ideas of similarity and collaboration.”
