ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a teenage boy is in critical condition after being shot on a Rochester street.

Rochester police say the 16-year-old was hit by gunfire in the upper body around 11 p.m. Thursday on Melville Street on the city’s east side.

Officers say he was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say they’re interviewing witnesses as the investigation continues.
