MINOT, N.D. (AP) - A man accused of killing his brother at a Minot apartment is headed to trial next spring unless his defense can work out a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Twenty-six-year-old Adolfo Contreras-Castillo is accused of killing 28-year-old Ignacio Contreras-Castillo on March 1, and stabbing another brother in the hand.

He faces murder, terrorizing and aggravated assault counts and could face life in prison if convicted.

The defense and prosecution this week asked a judge for two weeks to try to reach a plea deal. If that doesn’t happen, Contreras-Castillo will go on trial next March or April. He’s being held on $2 million bond.
