PICO RIVERA, Calif. (AP) - The Latest on the fatal stabbing of a girl in her Southern California home (all times local):

3 p.m.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the teenager suspected in the stabbing death of his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend.

The sheriff’s department has been searching for 17-year-old Rory Murga since the 3 a.m. Friday stabbing.

They released two photos of the teen in hopes the public will recognize him and help lead to his capture. One shows the teen with green hair and a serious face. The other shows him smiling with longer black hair and a swath of bangs died light brown.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Eddie Hernandez says 16-year-old Elena Moore was stabbed at least once in the chest in her Pico Rivera home. He says she repeatedly screamed Rory’s name as she collapsed and died in front of her mother shortly after.

Hernandez says Rory is a suspect and that investigators are running down several leads to track him down.

He says evidence at the scene also ties Rory to the home and that investigators have recovered what’s believed to be the weapon used - a kitchen knife.

Hernandez says Elena broke up with Rory two weeks ago after the pair had dated for about a year.

Officials say a 16-year-old girl used her last breaths after being stabbed in her Los Angeles-area home to scream the name of the ex-boyfriend she broke up with two weeks ago.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Eddie Hernandez says the girl’s ear-piercing screams woke her mother up just after 3 a.m. Friday in their Pico Rivera home. He says the girl, who was stabbed at least once in the chest, repeatedly screamed her ex’s name as she collapsed and died in front of her mother shortly after.

The coroner’s office identified the girl as Elena Moore.

Hernandez said the Moore’s 17-year-old ex-boyfriend is a suspect and that investigators are running down several leads to track him down. He declined to release his name, but said the pair dated for about a year.

He says evidence at the scene also ties the teen to the home and that investigators have recovered what’s believed to be the weapon used - a kitchen knife.

A teenage girl stabbed to death in her home before dawn Friday has been identified by Los Angeles County authorities.

The coroner’s office says the victim in the Pico Rivera slaying was 16-year-old Elena Moore.

Sheriff’s homicide investigators are seeking her ex-boyfriend to determine if he was involved.

A Sheriff’s Department statement says the girl’s mother was awakened shortly after 3 a.m. as her daughter staggered into her room, screamed she had been stabbed and collapsed.

The department says the ex-boyfriend is being sought based on the victim’s statements to her mother prior to her collapse.

The girl and the ex-boyfriend dated for a year before the relationship ended two weeks ago.

The name of the ex-boyfriend has not been released.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says a 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death in her Pico Rivera home before dawn Friday and homicide detectives are seeking her ex-boyfriend to determine if he was involved in the attack.

A department statement says the girl’s mother was awakened at 3:14 a.m. as her daughter staggered into the mother’s room, screamed she had been stabbed and collapsed.

Detectives say the victim had been downstairs when the assailant entered through a back door and stabbed her. It’s unknown if the assailant was allowed inside by the girl or made forced entry.

The department says that based on the victim’s statements to her mother prior to her collapse, the girl’s ex-boyfriend is being sought.

The girl and the ex-boyfriend’s dated for a year before the relationship ended two weeks ago.

The names of the girl, her mother and the ex-boyfriend have not been released.

Los Angeles County homicide detectives are investigating the stabbing death of a girl in Pico Rivera.

The Sheriff’s Department says deputies were dispatched at 3:15 a.m. Friday to a location on Shade Lane where the victim was pronounced dead.

There’s no information about the circumstances of the death or the name and age of the girl.
