HELENA, Mont. (AP) - The Montana Highway Patrol has released the name of a 23-year-old Helena man who was killed in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 12 near Avon.

Trooper Brandon Uhl tells the Independent Record (https://bit.ly/2aPhclq ) that Cohle Platisha died Wednesday morning when he tried to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone and his car collided with an oncoming sport utility vehicle.

Platisha died at the scene. A 57-year-old Helena woman who was his passenger was flown to a Missoula hospital for treatment. The 35-year-old Missoula woman and a 15-year-old boy in the SUV were taken to the hospital in Helena.
