NEW YORK (AP) - Some New York City neighborhoods are getting reduced power as electrical crews work to fix equipment problems during a spell of sweltering weather.

Utility Con Edison said Saturday it was reducing voltage by 5 percent in certain Brooklyn neighborhoods to make sure it can protect equipment and maintain service during the repairs. The announcement follows similar voltage reductions Friday in parts of Queens and Staten Island.

Con Ed has been reporting a few scattered outages across the in Queens and Brooklyn amid the hot spell.

The temperature hit 93 degrees in Central Park on a crushingly muggy Friday, and Saturday is expected to be much the same.
