BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Inclement weather has led organizers to cancel the Wings Over Vermont flying performance on Saturday in Burlington.

But event exhibits, vendors and events remained open Saturday, and Wings of Vermont staff said planes are still scheduled to fly on Sunday.

The forecast called for conditions on Saturday that could be severe at times including thunderstorms and high winds. The Vermont National Guard says if weather could potentially impact public safety, the waterfront will be evacuated.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are among the attractions at this weekend’s free event that also commemorates the Vermont Air National Guard’s 70th anniversary.

As many as 40,000 attendees are expected so police are warning the public about possible traffic delays.
