SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a man stabbed in the head and back on a Syracuse street told them he’d been trying to break up a big fight.

The Syracuse Police Department says the 18-year-old man is expected to survive his wounds from the incident Friday night.

Officers got a call about a stabbing on Amherst Avenue, but as they headed there, they learned the injured man had gotten to a hospital in a private car.

Police say he didn’t point them to any suspects, and they’re looking for information.
