NEW LONDON, Wis. (AP) - Police in New London say one person has died in an officer-involved shooting.

Police say two officers were on patrol when they saw a 31-year-old man whom they knew and who had a warrant for his arrest. The man, who was white, pulled a weapon and was shot, according to a department news release.

The release didn’t specify the weapon or say why the man was wanted. He wasn’t identified. A voice mail left with police wasn’t immediately returned.

The state Department of Justice is investigating the shooting, as required by state law for fatal shootings involving police.

New London is about 110 miles northwest of Milwaukee.
