BAMBERG, S.C. (AP) - Authorities in Bamberg County have found the body of a 67-year-old woman who went missing over the weekend.

Sheriff Ed Darnell tells media outlets the body of Beverly June Creech was found Monday afternoon in her vehicle, upside down. A state Transportation worker was checking a boat landing sign when he found Creech inside her car.

Creech was last seen Saturday. She was planning to drive from Denmark to Bamberg, and then to Orangeburg, but never made it to either place.

Darnell says she ran a stop sign, gone into the woods and through kudzu vines, which obscured her as authorities searched.

Officials say Creech had a mental condition and got disoriented easily. The sheriff says she likely died instantly in the crash.
