FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Former Arkansas outfielder Andrew Benintendi has been called to the major leagues by the Boston Red Sox.

Benintendi is to report to the Red Sox for Tuesday’s game at Seattle after being called up from Class AA Portland.

Benintendi was the seventh overall pick in the 2015 draft as a sophomore out of Arkansas and is hitting .312 with nine home runs, 76 RBIs and 16 stolen bases this season between Class A Salem and Portland.

At Arkansas, Benintendi won the Dick Howser Trophy as the top Division I baseball player in the country and the Golden Spikes Award as the nation’s top amateur baseball player while helping the Razorbacks to the College World Series in 2015.
