BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (AP) - Authorities say an 18-year-old Hartford man has died from injuries sustained in an accident following a police pursuit that stretched from the capital city to Bloomfield.

Believing there was a gun in the car, police say Hartford detectives first attempted to stop the vehicle driven by Xavier Myers at about 7:15 a.m. Sunday.

Myers failed to stop and continued down Blue Hills Avenue into Bloomfield, where he lost control and struck another vehicle.

Myers suffered a head injury and internal bleeding. His 16-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. Both were transported to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, where Myers was pronounced dead Monday.

Due to the vehicle’s severe damage, officers were unable to conduct a full search. Police say a live 9mm bullet was found in the car.
