PHOENIX (AP) - Dozens of guests were evacuated from a Phoenix hotel which was damaged by a multiple-alarm fire at an adjacent construction site next door.

The side of the Holiday Inn Express hotel facing the fire early Tuesday morning was scorched with windows blown out.

The fire at the construction site in the area of the Loop 101 freeway and Tatum Boulevard broke out about 3 a.m. and firefighters hours later continued to stream water onto the debris.

Cause of the fire is not immediately known. Firefighters say the building under construction is a total loss, with only the elevator shaft remaining.

No injuries were reported.
