RENO, Nev. (AP) - Officials have announced plans to close a popular boat launch at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park.

The Sand Harbor boat ramp will be closed to the public starting Friday due to low water conditions. Park superintendent Jay Howard says this is the fourth consecutive season that low water conditions have prompted an early closure at the harbor.

Officials say launching from the ramp when the water is too low can damage boats and the end of the ramp.

The Sand Harbor launch area will still be open to non-motorized, carry-in boats.

Launch areas at Lake Forest, Obexers and Tahoe Keys Marina will remain open to motorized boat use.
