HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Searchers using sonar have found an “area of substantial interest” as they try to recover the body of a 19-year-old man who crashed while trying to ride a modified motorcycle across Canyon Ferry Lake east of Helena.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton told the Independent Record (https://bit.ly/2atUdiw ) on Tuesday there’s a “high degree of probability that we will find him,” after matching sonar data with witness statements.

Officials plan to search the bottom of the reservoir with a remote camera and will send in divers if they find anything of interest. The water is about 140 feet deep.

Blake Becker of Clancy crashed on July 23 after trying to ride across the lake. He had completed the stunt at least once previously and was trying to replicate it at night. He was wearing a life vest.
