CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Firefighters have extinguished a house fire in Cedar Rapids from which two people safely escaped.

Television station KCRG reports (https://bit.ly/2b8iGHS ) that firefighters were called to fire around 1:20 a.m. Saturday. The first to arrive reported flames coming from the front of the house.

Fire investigators say it was a small fire in the kitchen of the home. Firefighters were able to put it out quickly, and the house sustained only minimal fire damage and moderate smoke damage. The cause is under investigation

Firefighters say the two people who escaped had to find another place to stay.
