CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - October sentencing is scheduled in southeast Missouri for a man newly convicted of fatally shooting his wife in 2013.

Jurors in Cape Girardeau found 41-year-old Stevie Cordale Lott of Sikeston guilty of second-degree murder, armed criminal action and illegal possession of a firearm.

Authorities said the Sikeston officers responding to a reported domestic dispute in September 2013 found the body of 28-year-old Nyketia Lott of Sikeston.

Scott County Coroner Scott Amick has said the victim had been shot in the back of the head.

Investigators have said that Stevie Lott later told them a gun accidentally fired while the couple argued, wounding Nyketia Lott.

Stevie Lott’s sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 11.
