PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police are investigating after a man was bludgeoned to death with a blunt object in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia this weekend.

The victim, a male in his 30s, was found in a pool of his own blood on North Broad Street around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police initially believed the man was shot in the head. But investigators determined that his wound appeared to be the result of being beaten in the back of the head with some kind of blunt object.

The victim was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he died a short time later.

A person of interest is currently being detained for questioning. His name or the identity of the victim weren’t immediately released.
