PITTS, Ark. (AP) - The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says a body found in the Cache River near Pitts last week has been identified as that of a Paragould man.

Sheriff’s Capt. Ricky Morales told reporters that Tuesday that the state Crime Lab has identified the body as 38-year-old Jesse Lee Gates.

Gates’ body was discovered by a farmer last Friday in the river along the Jackson-Poinsett County line and was pulled from the river on the Jackson County side.

A suspected cause of death has not been released. Sheriff David Lucas has said there was no obvious trauma to the body and that it appeared it had been in the river for at least a week.
