CHESTERFIELD, Va. (AP) - Niagara Bottling is expected to become Chesterfield County’s second-largest water customer as it builds a new $95 million bottling facility in the area.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/2bwlcbw ) reports Department of Utilities Director George B. Hayes said Monday that the county’s water supply is “more than adequate” to support the bottled water supplier’s needs. He says it will also allow the utility to operate more efficiently.

Niagara last week announced its plan to create 76 jobs following the construction of a new bottling facility. The Richmond region successfully competed against several states for Niagara’s Mid-Atlantic location.

The new 450,000 square foot facility is being built in Chesterfield County’s Meadowville Technology Park. Production is expected to start in March.

Niagara Bottling is the nation’s largest private-label bottled-water supplier.
