YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) - The city of Yonkers will pay $20,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by a man who accused police of falsely arresting and strip searching him.

Kevin King filed the suit against the Yonkers police department in 2014. He said he was arrested while waiting for a bus in 2012 following a Thanksgiving dinner with his family.

The Journal News (https://lohud.us/2bLptJ2 ) reports that the Mount Vernon resident said police strip searched him at the city jail and charged him with weapons possession after finding he was carrying a small pocket knife.

King said in his lawsuit that he was held for six days until a judge ruled that the pocket knife was legal and the charges were dropped.

Yonkers denied any liability in settling the case.
