LOS ANGELES (AP) - Ground has broken for a $350 million stadium that will house Southern California’s newest soccer team.

The 22,000-seat Banc of California stadium is scheduled to open in 2018 on the site of the former Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.

It will be home to the Los Angeles Football Club.

Some team owners were on hand for Tuesday’s groundbreaking, including Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson, actor Will Ferrell and motivational speaker Tony Robbins.

Banc of California has a 15-year naming-rights deal for the stadium.
