EASTON, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania judge has denied a defense request to throw out drug delivery charges against a former college professor.

The Morning Call in Allentown reports (https://bit.ly/2bRSAgN ) the judge ruled against Tara Bealer on Monday.

Police say Bealer sold a total of 22 bags of heroin to an informant three times in January.

Bealer’s attorney unsuccessfully tried to subpoena the judge who authorized a police raid of her house.

The defense says the informant was Bealer’s former boyfriend and that police recruited him after she accused him of stealing from her.

The defense also unsuccessfully questioned whether prosecutors had enough evidence to continue prosecuting her.

The 42-year-old sociology professor has taught at East Stroudsburg University. She was scheduled to begin teaching at Northampton Community College in January.
