WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - New Hanover County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man on drug charges after he was caught with almost 900 bags of heroin.

Sheriff’s Lt. Jerry Brewery told local news outlets that 22-year-old Justin Jenkins was arrested last Friday.

Jenkins is in the county jail. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney. The arrest was made by deputies who were investigating gangs.

Last month a federal, state and local task force was created to stem the flow of heroin into the Wilmington area. Authorities say most of the heroin is coming from New York and New Jersey.
