SANDOWN, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire teen is in critical condition after suffering life-threatening injuries when he lost control of his dirt bike and went off a trail in Sandown.

The accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. when the 13-year-old victim, his brother and a friend were riding dirt bikes along the Rockingham Recreational Trail.

New Hampshire Fish and Game officials say the boy hit a rough patch of the trail and was sent speeding off its path. The teen struck multiple trees with his body.

The boy was rushed to Parkland Medical Center in Derry before being airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

Fish and Game officials say the victim reportedly had little to no experience operating a dirt bike.
