ANTHONY, N.M. (AP) - Authorities have made an arrest in the hit-and-run death of a 6-year-old boy in southern New Mexico.

State police say investigators located the suspect vehicle Saturday in Anthony and took 53-year-old Jose Luis Bricino into custody.

He has been booked on one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident involving great bodily harm or death.

According to state police, Sabastian “Angel” Fragoso Jr. was riding his bicycle Thursday night near an intersection when he was struck by a pickup truck.

The driver then fled the scene.

State and local police as well as the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office have been investigating the case.

Authorities say information from the community led to the discovery of the vehicle.
