HAMILTON, Mich. (AP) - Young lake sturgeon are expected to be released into the Kalamazoo River in southwestern Michigan during an annual ceremony.

The Holland Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/2bn3neE ) that the Gun Lake Tribe has organized the event Monday evening at the New Richmond Bridge Country Park in Allegan County’s Hamilton.

The 8-inch-long fish have been raised in a stream-side hatchery and will be released by hand into the river.

A tribal youth drum group, called the ThunderBuddies, will perform at the ceremony southwest of Grand Rapids.
