YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Yuma say a man is in custody after allegedly stabbing his wife to death.

They say 37-year-old Roberto Ortega has been booked into the Yuma County Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer.

It was unclear Monday if he has a lawyer yet.

Police received a call about a domestic disturbance about 3:20 p.m. Saturday.

Officers say they found 36-year-old Lanika Ortega in her driveway with several stab wounds and she later died at a hospital.

Police say Roberto Ortega came out of the couple’s house and allegedly assaulted an officer, attempting to control the officer’s firearm.

They say an officer used his stun gun on the man and took him into custody.

The officer was not injured.
