WEARE, N.H. (AP) - The New Hampshire Marine Patrol has identified two paddle boarders who died over the weekend during their outing on a lake in the town of Weare.

Investigators say Mary Horgan was paddle boarding with Austin Dean in Everett Lake. Both were 59 and were from Merrimack. Horgan fell from the board and was face down in the water. She later died at Concord Hospital. Dean went to her rescue and while attempting to assist Horgan, he drowned in the 12-foot-deep water.

The patrol says Horgan’s cause of death is pending studies. Foul play has been ruled out.
