LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif. (AP) - The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has confirmed that three bodies found in the wreckage of a pickup truck that plunged off a mountainside are those of Fontana teenagers who vanished last weekend.

Authorities on Wednesday confirmed that the bodies are those of 19-year-old Daniel Gamboa, 18-year-old Kasey Vance and 17-year-old Samantha Ornelas.

The bodies were found Monday about 900 feet below the Angeles Crest Highway near La Canada Flintridge, north of Los Angeles. The truck belonged to Gamboa, who planned to go hiking with his friends Saturday in Angeles National Forest.

The CHP says skid marks appear to show that the truck braked while making a curve and went over the side.

Officer Ryan Bejar tells the Los Angeles Times (https://lat.ms/2b0XBAd ) that speed may have been a factor.
