BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - A man has been sentenced in Kern County to 22 years in prison in the death of a 1-year-old boy who suffered blunt force head trauma.

Adam Parrish pleaded no contest in June to voluntary manslaughter and willful cruelty to a child.

The victim, Tristan Michael Bramlett, died in July 2010. Paramedics were called when the boy stopped breathing at a home in Boron.

The boy had head injuries, and there were signs of long-term physical abuse. Prosecutors believe Parrish hit him with his hand or some blunt object.

KBAK-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2agHb9I) he was sentenced Tuesday.

Parrish had lived with the boy’s mother, Stephanie Bramlett, who was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading no contest willful cruelty to a child.
