OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A trial date has been set for a Midwest City man charged with murder in the nearly two-decade old disappearance of an 8-year-old girl.

The Oklahoman reports (https://bit.ly/2aUa75t ) that a March 6 trial date was set Wednesday for 57-year-old Anthony Joseph Palma on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping in the 1997 abduction and presumed death of Kirsten Renee Hatfield.

He has pleaded not guilty.

The girl disappeared after her mother put her to bed in May 1997 and her body has never been found. Palma lived two doors down from the victim at the time.

Palma was arrested in October 2015 after authorities said new DNA testing connected him to evidence found at the crime scene.
