JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Alaska Democrats will have a new candidate for the state House seat currently held by Wasilla Republican Wes Keller.

Christian Hartley won the recent Democratic primary for House District 10 but said Tuesday that he had decided to withdraw from the race to pursue professional opportunities. Hartley had been the only Democrat in the race.

Democratic party spokesman Jake Hamburg said Patricia Faye-Brazel of Houston stepped forward as a replacement for the general election, with the support from state and local Democrats.

Hamburg says the district chair notifies the state of the replacement.

The Republican in the race will be David Eastman, who upset the incumbent Keller during their party primary.
